NAU police release footage of NAU shooting, suspect appears in court

- The Northern Arizona University student accused of opening fire on fellow students last month will be back in court Tuesday. Steven Jones is accused of killing one person and injuring three others. Flagstaff Police have now released new body camera footage taken the night of the shooting; it shows how Jones responded in the moments after the shooting.

Police say after a fight at a campus frat party, Jones went to his car, got a .40 caliber pistol, and opened fire at the "Mountain View" dorms.

All the victims were members of the Delta Chi Fraternity on campus. Jones was pledging to the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

The video released Monday shows the victims still laying on the ground, waiting for medical help. It also shows an NAU police officer taking the accused gunman Steven Jones into custody.

Jones appeared in court on Tuesday morning and the prosecution declined to make any plea deals to Jones at this time. He remains in the Coconino County Jail on a $2 million cash bond.

He is due back in court in January.
