FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (FOX 10) -- Flagstaff Police officials say people should not approach or have contact with wild animals, after a person was bit by an animal.

The incident, according to a statement released Tuesday afternoon, happened on January 4 at the 1600 block of N. Wakonda Street, located in east Flagstaff. The animal's description is consistant with that of a coyote. This incident follows other incidents of animal bites in the area. The incidents involved foxes, and two foxes that were later captured have tested positive for rabies.

Rabies, according to officials, have not been specific to coyotes or foxes, and have been confirmed in skunks as well. Anyone who encounters a wild animal behaving in an uncharacteristic manner should call Flagstaff Police at (928) 774-1414.
