FOX 10 teams up with Valley grocery stores for holiday food drive

- Volunteers here at St. Vincent de Paul are sorting through the donations that have already come in and we're off to a great start.

St. Vincent de Paul says they would appreciate any non-perishable food items during our holiday food drive.

The non-profit will use them to put together food boxes that they'll deliver to families in our community at the end of the month and are hoping to see the same success, if not greater than last year.

Our fabulous FOX 10 viewers have provided about 100,000 food boxes to those who need them and right now, numbers are showing we are on track to beat that number and we're making it easy for you!

On your regular visit to any Safeway or Albertson's, you can get your groceries and a few items to donate, drop them off in the St. Vincent de Paul box or just donate at the counter.

"The hunger bags are a really exciting feature of the FOX 10 holiday food drive," Esther Martinez said. "Customers can purchase the bags at the register for $10 and it has a variety of non-perishable foods in the bag."

While the donations are still coming in, these empty shelves here at St. Vincent de Paul are why we need your help. Your donations during the holiday drive in 2015 helped feed 10 million people throughout the year.

This place needs to be full to make sure that happens again.

The holiday food drive will be going on until December 31st.
