Friends and family mourn man killed in crash

A bad car crash in the Valley left one person dead, and another behind bars. It happened near 41st Avenue and Union Hills in Phoenix.

Thirty-six-year-old James Coughenour is behind bars and facing manslaughter charges. But loved ones of the man who didn't walk away from the crash are still in shock that this happened.

Friends of 20-year-old Timothy Lewis gathered to pay their respects at the scene of the crash. According to Phoenix Police, the Coughenour's vehicle was traveling eastbound on Union Hills and failed to stop before turning left onto 41st Avenue. That's when police say the suspects car collided with the victim's vehicle, with the impact sending the victim's car into a pole.

Shortly after, Lewis was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Coughenour was evaluated by detectives, and they believe impairment was a factor in the crash.
