- The Waste Management Phoenix Open is starting in just days, and golfers are getting ready to tee it up.

Meanwhile, fans are excited to watch. On Wednesday, Carlos Sugich, the tournament's chairperson, talked about what fans can expect, in 2018.

"We're getting ready to welcome hundreds of thousands of people in a couple of weeks," said Sugich. "We're adding close to 900 bleacher seats. Those are opened for our general admission tickets. 650 are going to be at the 17th Hole, which is a great and very exciting part four. Then, we are going to have close to 250 in the AT&T Box, and that's going to be opened to anyone who has a ticket."

Sugich said there are also other new additions to the 17th Hole.

"We created a new venue at the 17th Hole, which we are calling 'The Cove'," said Sugich. "Cove 17 is going to host about 60 suites, two lounges, one on each side. It's going to have a spectacular view of the 17th Hole."

In addition, some celebrities are lined up to appear on Wednesday, January 31.

"Pros playing with some amateurs, and celebrities like Michael Phelps, we are excited to have him back," said Sugich. "Emmitt Smith, Larry Fitzgerald is going to come out and play, so we are really excited about Wednesday and all the celebrities around for the Waste Management Open."

Sugich said the whole team is excited for the major event.

"It's become one of the most attended open in the world," said Sugich. "We are just so happy and blessed and proud to have it right here in the Valley."
