Gilbert boy turns passion for recycling into routine

GILBERT, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Little Roman loves to recycle!

Since he was a toddler, he's had a passion for all things garbage. His superhero, he says was the "Trash Man."

"I love to pick up garbage and recycling so much because when I first say my trash man, I loved how the truck emptied it," he said.

"When Roman was 1-years-old, he used to love following the garbage truck around town and as he matured, he decided that he actually wanted to do it himself," said Brian Sexton, Roman's father.

Now as a first-grader, he's turned his passion into a weekly recycling routine.

Going door-to-door within his neighborhood, Roman takes his own truck for a spin, collecting things like cans, plastic and cardboard.

"He gets heartbroken when he sees trash on the ground, feels it's his responsibility to pick it up," Brian said. "We're very proud of him and the role he's chosen for himself to go out and make a difference in the community."

Besides keeping his community clean, what Roman really loves is saving the environment!
