Gilbert Police searching for man accused of trying to lure girl

Gilbert Police officials are asking for the public's help, as they search for a suspect who tried to lure a child at a residential neighborhood.

The incident, according to a statement, took place at around 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, near the intersection of Power and Baseline Roads. A mother reported to police that a man in a car contacted her daughter in the area, offering her ice cream and to see his puppies. The suspect did not leave the car, or reach for the child, and the child was able to travel home on her bike, and the car was seen heading south in the neighborhood.

The suspect is described by Gilbert Police as a heavy set white man, about 50 years of age, with long white hair and beard, with scars on his face. Police also provided a sketch of the person. Meanwhile, the car involved was described as a white mini-van or small delivery-type vehicle, with sliding side doors and two rear cargo doors that open vertically. The left side passenger door, along with the left rear cargo door, both have a dent. The car did not have a license plate.
