Girl who suffered 3rd degree burns celebrates Halloween

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -- Isabella McCune, 8, is still recovering at Maricopa Integrated Health Systems, after sustaining 3rd degree burns from a fire pit that exploded on St. Patrick's Day.

The girl, who can be called the Valley's biggest Taylor Swift fan and got the visit of a lifetime from the singer when she was in town, thought she would be missing trick or treating in her neighborhood.

On Wednesday, however, the festivities went to her. On this day, Isabella -- or on this occasion, Mavis from Hotel Transylvania -- is like every other kid.

"Today, she is missing so many of her friends, because we usually do Halloween trick-or-treating in the neighborhood, and the fact that she's able to do this here in the hospital," said said Lilly McCune, Isabella's mother.

Hospital staff made the day extra special.

"Halloween isn't going to be the same, but this time, it's incredible because she gets to spend it with people who she has been with for the majority of this year," said McCune.

Isabella was being escorted by superheros: Ironman, Spiderman and Deadpool. She has been at maricopa intergrated health systems for the past seven and a half months ...

"We didn't know how well she was going to feel today, so we try to do this on a day-by-day basis, so when we realized she was going to be feeling well," said McCune.
