Glendale Community Center helps families for the holidays

- Christmas cheer is in the air, but some low income families in Glendale can't afford to celebrate it.

As a result, the community center has put on a Christmas Fest for several years.

"People in the community donate money for us to go out and purchase gifts, so we provide them food and gifts for all the kids," Volunteer Susan Cordts said.

Food, clothing and toys are bought for the children and will be given to them on Sunday after they tell Santa what they want for Christmas.

After that, they get a picture with Santa and they get to eat some holiday cookies.

"It's not unusual at all for the kids to say this is the first time they ever had their picture with Santa Claus," Cordts said.

The event takes place on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Make sure to arrive early because the line typically wraps around the building.

More information on the event can be found on their website.
