Glendale police: Man wounded in shooting outside bagel shop

Glendale police say a seriously wounded man is hospitalized following a shooting that reportedly occurred after an argument of some sort.

According to witnesses who talked to them, police say two cars entered a parking lot just after 6:00 a.m. on Monday near 59th Avenue and Thunderbird Road. The drivers of the vehicles then had a confrontation.

While the victim's car remains at the scene, the suspect vehicle had multiple people inside and left the area. Once that argument happened, "Guns were displayed on both ends and at that point, our victim here on scene was shot, officers were able to locate the other vehicle a short time later nearby and have been working with people inside that vehicle to identify our potential shooter.. and officers are working now to locate that person," explained Sgt. David Vidaure.

Police say officers found the man with life-threatening injuries.

Only one bullet was fired during the confrontation, according to police. It does not appear that anyone exited their vehicles.

There was initially a question about whether this was a case of road rage, but police say right now, they don't believe it was, as investigators believe the suspect and victim knew each other.

No arrest has been made, and no identities have been released.

The parking lot will be closed off during the investigation.
