Goodyear police officers hurt during foot pursuit; suspect arrested

- Police in Goodyear say Tuesday a suspect has been arrested, in connection with an incident Monday that injured two police officers.

According to a statement released Tuesday, the incident happened in an area near Pebble Creek Parkway and McDowell Monday afternoon, as police were looking for suspects in connection with two home burglaries. One suspect, identified as 21-year-old Robert Gastelum, was taken into custody after a foot pursuit.

One officer, according to the statement, suffered head and arm injuries, while another officer suffered a leg bite from a police K-9. The suspect was taken to the hospital for evaluation before he was released into police custody.

According to police, Gastelum has been booked into jail on multiple charges, including aggravated assault, burglary, resisting arrest, and criminal trespass.

Meanwhile, police are still looking for three to four other suspects in the case, including a Hispanic female. Anyone with information should call Goodyear Police.
