Governor calls legislature into special session

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has ordered the Legislature to begin a special session to consider an education funding plan that will settle a long-running lawsuit.

Members of the House have been ordered to convene to the Capitol building Wednesday evening and return Thursday to consider the settlement plan.

The settlement being considered has a $3.5 billion pricetag spread out over 10 years. The funds would come from Ducey's plan to pull money from the state land trust fund and be supplemented by funds from the state's general fund.
