Governor Ducey fires scandal-hit DES director

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Governor Doug Ducey has fired the Director of the state's Department of Economic Security, Tim Jeffries.

The firing of Jeffries came just a day before Thanksgiving, and after a series of scandals hitting Jeffries. Jeffries has fired hundreds of workers, and is accused of holding a party, with alcohol, for workers who gave up civil service protections.

Henry Darwin, Governor Ducey's Chief Operating Officer, will take over as the Interim Director for the DES.
