Group walking 22 miles across Valley to help stop veteran suicides
A group of marchers are walking 22 miles across the Valley today to help stop veteran suicides.
Organizers of the march on Saturday, called "22 for 22", say they are walking to raise awareness about the crisis of veteran suicides. March coordinator David Donaldson says every day, 22 veterans take their own lives, and they want to help spread the word and reduce that number. Marchers are raising money for Arizona veterans who are need of services and health resources.
The march began at American Legion Post 29 near Glendale and 57th Drive. Marchers will make stops today at the VA Medical Center and the Arizona National Guard. The walkers are expected to reach Tempe Arts Park by 6pm Saturday evening, and a candlelight vigil will be held there.
