SOTTSDALE, Ariz. (FOX 10) -- Spring is right around the corner, which means people will soon see rattlesnakes coming out.
There are some things people can do around the house to keep them from getting in. Snake experts say as soon as it starts to warm up, they expect this to be a pretty busy season, especially when it comes to rattlers. That's why a lot of homeowners are trying to snake-proof their homes.
"We don't know what we're looking for, so it's nice to have a professional come in," said Lisa Bell, who just moved into a home in Scottsdale. After having a run in with a rattler before, Bell is taking no chance at her new house.
"That was just really frightening," said Bell.
That's why she hired Rattlesnake Solutions to snake-proof her home.
"We remove rattlesnakes, we teach people about how to be safe, and we install snake-proof fencing," said Bryan Huges with Rattlesnake Solutions.
Huges expects this spring to be busy.
"They don't like their kids and their pets having to worry about rattlesnakes," said Huges. "A lot of the places north of the 101 especially, where we get a lot of rattlesnake calls. There's a lot of activity over here."
Huges and his team showed off their work at a previous home, where every inch of fencing is is covered with mesh, so no rattlesnake, no matter how big or small, can make it in. Last year, the team did several hundred homes. This year, they expect to do even more. It's a bit of an investment, but homeowners say it's worth it.
"It's a piece of mind," said Bell. "Just that you can let your kids out or your pet out, know they're safe," said Bell. "You're guaranteed there won't be an issue."
