Injured Pit Bull in need of forever home

A few weeks ago, Pistol the Pit Bull's injuries were still raw and painful.

His ears were cut before someone left him to fend for himself in the streets of Ahwatukee. But this is Pistol today with his ears healed and his tail wagging non-stop.

He's a happy and healthy puppy after spending time with a loving foster family.

"Typical puppy, he hasn't let the injuries slow him down one bit," said Melissa Gable, of Maricopa County Animal Care and Control. "He's still very good-natured and playful and like any other puppy going to need some training, but he's an absolute doll."

Melissa Gable says Pistol still needs to be neutered and get a few vaccinations, but then in about a week, he can move into his forever home.

"Potential adopters need to understand that because of his injuries, we're not expecting any hearing loss or anything, but he will need to have his ears clean probably two-to-three times a week just to keep debris out because he no longer has that ear to protect the ear canal," Gable said.

That's why Pistol won't go to just anyone. Melissa is asking you send her an email, explaining why your home would be the perfect fit. She's already seen a slew of responses, but at the end of the day, Pistol's foster mom will make the final decision.

Making sure Pistol gets the loving family he's always deserved.
