Inside a reactor at the Palo Verde Nuclear plant

It's the largest power plant of any kind in the United States, the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station is located 55 miles west of downtown Phoenix. It's operated by APS and employees over 2,000 people.

To get ready for peak summer demand, one of the three reactors at Palo Verde is currently shut down for re-fueling giving FOX 10 a chance to look inside a nuclear reactor.

FOX 10's Joe Tillman takes us inside the reactor.
