PHOENIX (KSAZ) -- It's beginning to look like Christmas.
Indeed, it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas, when people see the ads on TV, as well as outdoor holiday decorations.
According to one study that's published in the Journal of Environmental Psychology, people who decorate early are a lot happier
"Everyone gets excited when they talk about Christmas, and when they see the lights up, decor up and everything going on, they are just ecstatic," said Brandon Gage, owner of Spirit Lighting. "It's just a fun and exciting time for most people, and as soon as they start seeing lights up around town, it starts changing your mindset."
The question is, however, whether it's too early for that. Well, if you ask a professional decorator, it's not. Gage starts preparing for the Christmas season during the summer.
"The week after Fourth of July, I went from 0 to 90," said Gage. "I started getting a ton of requests. People who call too late the previous season, they flip through their calendar and realize I need to get a head start. so they see July and they say, 'let's start calling Christmas light companies.'"
Gage decorates for an average of 150 clients a holiday season, so the earlier it is, the better it is for Gage and his team to plan.
"We take a look at everything," said Gage. "Sometimes, they have certain ideas or requests. I make my recommendations based on what their taste are, and we change it around."
For Gage, this year has been a busy one thus far.
"The economy's getting better," said Gage. "There is just a whole lot more demand, and this season has been very busy. The busiest I've ever seen."
He also says people are becoming open-minded, when it comes to switching up decorations. Gage says more and more people are calling to get their holiday lights professionally hung, because it's simply the hardest part of decorating.
