John McCain admitted to hospital for surgery
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has been admitted to the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, according to a spokesperson.
In an e-mail sent Monday, Julie Tarallo says Sen. McCain was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, and underwent surgery to treat an "intestinal infection related to diverticulitis".
In July 2017, Sen. McCain's office announced the Senator was battling brain cancer. According to the statement released Monday by Tarallo, Sen. McCain has been "participating in physical therapy" at his home in Cornville, as he recovers from the cancer treatment's side effects.
"He has remained engaged on his work as Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and has enjoyed frequent visits from his family, friends, staff and Senate colleagues," read the statement.
My husband @SenJohnMcCain is doing well after his surgery. Looking forward to getting back to Hidden Valley!
