Kids at Phoenix Children's Hospital get a visit from the Cardinals on Halloween

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Halloween just wouldn't live up to its name if it wasn't for costumes and good old fashioned trick-or-treating.

For the patients at Phoenix Children's Hospital, Halloween happens to be one of their favorite days of the year, mostly because the kids get a visit from their favorite team.

"Halloween is one of those holidays where it's for the kids, it's for them to put on their best costume, their little outfits and to go get candy and to just be a kid," said Arizona Cardinals running back D.J. Foster.

All dressed up, these little patients light up as Cardinals players and cheerleaders enter their room. The children swap out candy for toys and hugs from Big Red.

"We're meeting a lot of young Cardinals fans out here who support the team week after week and it's just so neat to come and just love on them a little bit and let them know that we appreciate them so much and maybe make them smile and get their mind of off their problems, even if it's just for a short time," said Nicole Bidwill, vice president of the Cardinals.

"Just to put a smile on a kid's face like that on a day like this, it's incredible and they don't get to get the full experience... most of them, so just to be able to come here and bring them some toys, gift baskets, it's incredible," Foster said.
