AVONDALE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Avondale Police say La Joya High School in Avondale was put on lockdown Monday morning while officers conducted an investigation, which led to an arrest.
By 1:30 p.m., the lockdown was lifted and the students were released from school, which is located near Durango Street and Avondale Boulevard.
Per the Avondale Police Department's Twitter account, "Early this morning information was obtained regarding threats to the school via social media. During the course of the investigation no weapons or firearms were located on campus. The investigation is still ongoing."
After further investigation, police arrested a juvenile, male student at the school. Investigators said there was no evidence that the threat was going to carried out, but the student admitted to making the threat in order to cancel school. There are no other suspects involved.
The school will resume normal business hours Tuesday.
