PHOENIX (KSAZ) - For this Las Vegas teenager, nothing seemed right.
"I couldn't really walk," Aracely Sebastian said. "I had used so much oxygen that it was hard for me to get up off the couch."
"She was in and out of the hospital, getting sick every two-to-three weeks and it was hard," said Gomencinda Nicolas, Aracely's mother. "You know, she'd go home for a week... go back in."
Finally, doctors figured out the problem. Aracely was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, and the only solution was dramatic surgery.
"She had a double lung transplant and the surgery went very, very well," one doctor said.
After years of feeling sick and sluggish, Aracely's recovery was nothing short of stunning.
"For hours after surgery, she was up walking around, doing her little rounds on the floor," Nicolas said. "Everybody was amazed at her recovery."
No longer sick, Aracely is looking forward to a second chance at life.
"I can get up on my own, do lots of things," she said. "I go out more with my family."
