Man allegedly leaves child in car while gambling

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Thirty-nine-year-old Daniel Armaz made an initial appearance before a judge, his attorney asked the judge to release Armaz without supervision, the judge said no.

Police allege that Armaz left his 15-month-old son inside a car at the Talking Stick Resort and Casino while he gambled. Armaz allegedly left the child in the back seat for 57 minutes.

Someone answered the door at Armaz's apartment, but declined to speak.

Neighbors however did speak to FOX 10.

When the neighbor found out about the crime she reacted by saying, "Oh my god, they should be in jail forever."

When she was told it was her upstairs neighbor she said, "Oh my god, they are nice people."

Other neighbors agreed by saying the couple was nice.

"Yeah once in a while we stay with Chase and they are very nice... totally in shock, amazing," said Damian Gurri.

Armaz remains jailed at the 4th Avenue Jail on one count of felony child abuse.
