Man arrested in connection with Glendale kidnapping

Glendale Police say they have arrested a man, in connection with a kidnapping that took place earlier in May.

In a statement released Friday, officials say 28-year-old Immanuel Christian Williams was arrested on May 15, and is being charged with kidnapping, assault, child abuse, endangerment, threatening and intimidating, custodial interference, and burglary. Officers were called out to the area of 6300 W. Maryland Avenue on May 13, in reference to a report of a kidnapping. After officers arrived, they learned that Williams had forced entry into a nearby home, and physically assaulted a babysitter at the home.

Police say after the assault, Williams took a two-year-old boy from within the home, as the babysitter was calling police for help. Officers then set up a perimeter within the neighborhood, and did a canvass search. At around 8:35 a.m., the child was found, alone, in an abandoned shed within the neighborhood. The child was taken to a local hospital for a precautionary checkup.

Williams, according to Glendale Police, is not related to the child, nor does he have custodial rights.
