Man dead, PCSO supervisor injured after deputy-involved shooting

A man is dead and a Pinal County supervisor injured after an deputy-involved shooting in Pinal County.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office says the incident broke out at 11pm on Friday night in the area of Rittenhouse and Combs. The incident involves PCSO three supervisors and a male suspect.

It started with a hit and run crash near Gary and Empire, and no injuries. Two citizens called 911 after a 55-year-old suspect crashed into the victim's vehicle, pushing it into the center lane. No injuries were reported.

The crash led to a pursuit involving a Pinal County lieutenant and a deputy. The suspect led police on a chase to the area of Combs and Rittenhouse, and began driving in circles. At one point, the suspect crashed into a marked vehicle driven by a Pinal County sergeant.

Two sergeants and a lieutenant ordered the suspect to get out of the vehicle and surrender. The driver accelerated the vehicle toward the sergeant a second time, and the officers opened fire at the suspect. The suspect was found deceased in the vehicle. The sergeant who was injured suffered minor injuries.

The sergeant suffered minor injuries after his patrol vehicle was rammed by the suspect's vehicle. Investigators are continuing their investigation on Saturday morning.
