Man dies after hard landing while skydiving in Pinal County

FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities in Pinal County say a 61-year-old man is dead after a hard landing while skydiving.

County sheriff's deputies responded to a medical call Sunday afternoon after a man sustaining life-threatening injuries near the drop zone in Maricopa.

The man was taken to Chandler Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The man's name still hadn't been released Monday.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the circumstances of the incident.

Sheriff's officials say the medical call came from Skydive Phoenix Inc.
