Man injured in officer-involved shooting in west Phoenix

One person is injured after an officer-involved shooting near 91st Avenue and McDowell.

Police say they found a domestic violence suspect after receiving a report on Friday evening. The man was also wanted on weapons charges in California. When police approached the suspect as he walked toward a vehicle near 89th Avenue and McDowell, a second suspect approached the officers and pointed a weapon at them. Police say an officer fired at him, hitting the suspect. The 39-year-old suspect has non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers say the second suspect ran from the scene, but he was found with the help of police K-9's. The second suspect a 28-year-old man, was also taken into custody. No officers were injured. The incident remains under investigation. A weapon was recovered on the scene.
