Marine veteran runs 31 marathons in 31 different cities in 31 days

"I'm just trying to show that a wounded veteran is not a broken veteran," Rob Jones said.

Strong words from an even stronger man. As a Marine in 2010, Jones lost both of his legs while on a mission to find an IED in Afghanistan.

"I was trying to clear a route through a danger area and the IED found me first, and that resulted in double above-knee amputation," he said.

After an honorable discharge, Rob didn't waste any time picking himself up and getting back out there... this time on a new mission.

To raise funds and awareness to increase service for veterans, known as the Rob Jones' Journey, he's in the middle of running 31 marathons in 31 days in 31 different cities.

With the support of his family and friends, Rob is feeling pretty good.

"I started in London, 10/12, and made my way to Philly from there, and I've been going counter-clockwise around America, makin' my way back East now," he said. "Yeah, today's number 20."

Now, as Rob continues on his mission to help veterans, he has another message he wants to share -- when facing adversity, it's all about perspective and perseverance.

"Instead of seeing it as a tragedy ot a hardship in your past blocking you, it'll be better for you somehow flip that around and see it as a challenge for you, and in doing so, become stronger than you were before," he said.
