TOLLESON, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Authorities say a man was seriously injured when an SUV rear-ended a semi-truck overnight in the west Valley.
According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, an SUV traveling at a high rate of speed rear-ended a semi-truck that was making a U-turn while traveling eastbound on MC-85 at 83rd Avenue.

Tow truck now on scene removimg SUV. Driver of SUV smashed into back of a semi, driving off into embankment on 83rd & Buckeye then smashing into a wall. Semi truck driver is ok. SUV driver suffering serious injuries. Traffic detouring scene.

Following the collision, the SUV veered off the roadway into a guardrail and crashed into a wall.
The driver of the SUV suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.
MCSO says it is unknown if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
