Megabus to launch service between Phoenix and Las Vegas

(NOTE: This story was published in May 2018. Six months following the start of this bus service, Megabus officials announced they will discontinue service on the route.)

Bus service megabus is launching a service between Phoenix and Las Vegas.

According to a statement released by a marketing company Friday afternoon, the company will launch its new service on May 25, and will include stops in Glendale and Phoenix.

On June 12, an additional stop will reportedly be set up in Tempe.

According to the megabus' website, the company's bus service serves a number of big cities, including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Milwaukee, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.

To mark the occasion, officials said there will be several $1 seats available. The cost did not factor in an additional reservation fee of an unspecified amount.

While megabus is new to the Valley, the company has been transporting people around the country for more than 10 years.

Meanwhile, travelers are weighing in on the new service.

"You know, I think it's exciting," said one woman. "A lot of people could utilize that."

Alan Porter, who says he's getting ready to retire his driver's license, is apparently onboard with the idea.

"I'm getting too old to drive, so that sounds good to me," said Porter.

"That seems like that'll be a great deal," said one man. "You can have a great time for a buck sounds like a lot of fun."

Travelers also weighted in on what they would do in Vegas with the extra cash.

"I'd catch a show, eat some good food," said one man.

"Probably a good hotel," said another traveler.
