Mesa Fire investigating house fire that left 1 dead, 8 displaced

MESA, Ariz. (FOX 10) - Mesa fire is investigating a house fire that left one woman dead and eight others displaced. The fire happened near the 6700 block of East Arbor Avenue.

Officials confirm that one woman, Cindy Freimuth, died in the fire.

We spoke to Don Freimuth, who lost the love of his life, Cindy, in the fire. Freimuth says he married Cindy 60 years ago. This was their home, and officials say she died in her bedroom because of this fire.

Freimuth was bedridden in hospice after a long fight with cancer. Don wasn't home when this happened around 3 p.m. Saturday. His kids and grandkids were able to get out, but not Cindy.

Now a family of eight is displaced. Red Cross is helping them as they have now lost everything. Mesa Fire says the house cannot be lived in because of the damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
