Mesa man accused of selling illegal fireworks out of his garage

- Mesa police arrested a man who they say was selling illegal fireworks out of his garage.

According to the Mesa Police Department, Chris Kleve was arrested after admitting to selling illegal fireworks out of his garage at his home near Gilbert Road and Adobe Street.

Police received tips that Kleve was selling illegal fireworks and when they went to his home, they found banners indicating fireworks were fore sale at the home. Police also found online ads listing various illegal fireworks for sale at the home.

Police also served a search warrant and an entire pickup truck bed of fireworks was seized.

Kleve told police he "really loved fireworks and he needed the money to pay veterinary bills," police say. Kleve also said he drove to nearby states to pick up fireworks and return to Arizona to sell them.

Kleve was booked on several charges related to the possession, sale, and storage of illegal fireworks.
