Mesa police investigating possible child abduction

Right now, police are investigating reports of a possible child abduction in Mesa.
The investigation is underway near the intersection of Gilbert Road and University Drive.
Esteban Flores with the Mesa Police Department says police began investigating a witness’ claims that a young girl was carried and put into a vehicle by an adult in the area of University Drive and 22nd Place.
The witness described the girl as a 10-year-old Hispanic or White female, 4-foot-tall, 75 pounds, long straight dark hair, wearing a white shirt, white leggings, and possibly a skirt.
The witness also told police that a girl was put into a newer model, white Toyota SUV that was being driven by a man.
No other witnesses have come forward, but police are using extreme caution.
Flores says police have gone door-to-door in the neighborhood and they have not received any reports of missing children.
Fox 10 Phoenix has a crew at the scene. We are waiting on updates. We will bring you the latest information as it develops.
