Mesa police on scene of officer-involved shooting

Mesa police is at the scene of an officer-involved shooting near Alma School Road and Rio Salado Parkway.

According to the Mesa Police Department, all officers are OK.

Prior to 5:00 p.m., Mesa Police Department spokesperson Nik Rasheta held a news conference on the shooting. According to Rasheta, the incident began at around 11:48 a.m., when Mesa Police received a 911 call from a woman in a vehicle, who stated that she have been robbed earlier in the morning by individuals, and that she is following them in her car. Police eventually located the car, which lost control and crashed into a chain-linked fence.

Rasheta said there were a man and a woman in the car. The man, who had a gun in his hand, and was running with the gun forward. The man reportedly suffered non-life threatening injuries, and was taken to the hospital.

This is the second such shooting in just four days in Mesa. On Saturday, a man was shot and killed, after raising a BB gun at officers.
