Mom asks for answers in son's shooting death

A mother is searching for answers while authorities search for a suspect. Last week a man was shot and killed in his own backyard, now police are offering a reward for information leading to an arrest.

The man was gunned down outside his own home and later collapsed in the street. His mother is now begging for information about who killed her son.

"I don't wish this on anybody, he was my heart," said Maria Bravo.

Bravo is struggling to come to terms with her son's death and wants answers about how he died.

"This wasn't right what happened to him, it wasn't right," said Bravo.

Last week 34-year-old Santiago Bravo was shot in the back, police say he was killed by a single bullet in the backyard of his home near 16th Street and McDowell.

"I believe with all my heart that somebody saw something, somebody knows something," said Bravo.

Police say a neighbor heard the gunshot and called the police.

"I believe with all my heart that he did suffer because he walked from the back of his girlfriend's house all the way towards the street, and it's kind of a ways, and that's when he collapsed," she said.

Santiago later died at the hospital leaving behind his seven kids, girlfriend, and countless family and friends who mourn his death and pray for answers.

"I won't be at rest until they find the person that did this... whoever saw something, please call the police, Silent Witness, anything will help because we just want justice for my son," said Bravo.

If you know anything, you're asked to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
