The monsoon storm rolled through the valley on Saturday evening, dumping a significant amount of rain in Sun City and parts of Phoenix.

The west valley appears to have been hit the hardest. The storm was so intense in Surprise that it blew the doors off a Target store near Bell Rd. and Grand Avenue. Several roads in Surprise had to be shut down because of all the debris scattered around.

Wind knocked down a large tree on top of an apartment complex near Glendale and Litchfield Road.

The tree crashed into a pillar that was holding up a balcony, and a second tree was uprooted and also damaged the building. Several people had to be evacuated from the complex. People living there were surprised by the strength of the storm, and they say the wind was blowing sideways and they could hear branches coming down.

It's not clear when people will be allowed back in their homes. No injuries were reported at the complex in Glendale.

A mobile home also reportedly caught fire in El Mirage. APS power crews have been working to restore power.
