MCSO: 16-year-old arrested for killing 3-year-old brother

A 16-year-old boy was arrested for stabbing and killing his 3-year-old brother.
Deputies called it a violent crime scene. They say the teen was found covered in blood as he was running from the home northwest of Phoenix.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio says his deputies responded at 11 p.m. Saturday night.
There were five kids in the house ranging in age from 17-years-old-to-three-years-old. A single mom raising them, she was at work when it happened.
The Sheriff says deputies arrived to find a 3-year-old boy stabbed to death and his 9-year-old sister injured.
Their 16-year-old brother was trying to get away.
"The 16-year-old suspect ran from the house a quarter of a mile chased by deputy sheriffs," said Sheriff Arpaio. "After that foot pursuit he was tackled by our deputies. The suspect was covered with blood and there was also traces of blood on the roadway."
The sheriff's office executed a search warrant and is interviewing the family. The Sheriff didn't release the name of the 16-year-old because he is juvenile.
He is in detention for second-degree murder and aggravated assault.
If the county attorney brings charges against him as an adult, he will be moved to the Maricopa County Jail.
Meanwhile, a man who says he is the kids' grandfather came by their home today where there is a memorial and spatters of blood from the doorway to the street.
"This is a horrible thing, we have some vital part of you being ripped away from you," Bob Culp said. "Anybody that hasn't had that happen might not understand but this is a horrible time that I don't wish on anybody."
