The Phoenix Fire Department said nine people were injured, including three people seriously injured and needing transport to hospitals. The Arizona Department of Public Safety says none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.
Trooper Kameron Lee said 10 vehicles were involved in the wreck that began when a tractor-trailer rig was unable to stop when rush-hour traffic came to a halt.
The westbound lanes re-opened just before 12:30 p.m.
Good news, the freeway is back open. Three people suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result of this 10 vehicle collision. https://t.co/TctT0NIYEv— Dept. Public Safety (@Arizona_DPS) April 21, 2017
