Pickup driver arrested after woman, children were struck at Phoenix intersection

A driver has been arrested, after four pedestrians were struck by a pickup truck at the 19th Avenue and Campbell intersection on Monday morning.

According to Phoenix Police, a 36-year-old female, an 11-year-old female, and a six-year-old female suffered serious injuries, while a seven-year-old female suffered critical injuries. The incident happened at around 9:45 a.m., when a truck driven by a 22-year-old male struck the four pedestrians.

According to Phoenix Police Sgt. Alan Pfohl, the pickup's driver told police he didn't see the family members when he had a green light, and made a left turn at the intersection of Campbell and 19th Avenues.

According to police officials Monday afternoon, a Phoenix Police Drug Recognition Expert observed signs and symptoms of impairment, and the driver has been arrested.

No names have been released in this case.
