Navajo community votes to shut down irrigation for a year

DENVER (KSAZ) - One of the largest communities of Navajo farmers along the San Juan River has voted to close irrigation canals for at least one year.

The farmers are concerned about soil contamination from the toxic waste spill at a Colorado gold mine.

However, shutting down the canal may have devastating effects on farmers' crops.
