ANETH, Utah (FOX 10) - Navajo police say a body found in a creek is believed to be a missing 4-year-old girl.
According to the Navajo Police Department, a body recovered from McElmo Creek on April 3 is believed to be Anndine Jones, who has been missing since Thursday, March 14.
Police say volunteer searchers found the body in the creek north of the Aneth community and the body was identified by Anndine's parents.
Official identification of the body is pending from the medical examiner.
"This has been a difficult time for everyone involved," Navajo Police Chief Phillip Francisco said. "At this time, we ask for the public's patience and understanding. Details will be limited in the forthcoming days as the investigation continues. As protocol, the Navajo Division of Public Safety is investigating with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. We ask that the public continue to keep the family in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate through this difficult time."
