HOLBROOK, Ariz. (KSAZ) -- Officials with the Navajo County Sheriff's Office said 158 lbs (71.67 kg) of meth and 3,000 fentanyl pills were found inside a car.
According to a brief statement by NCSO, the car was stopped on I-40 by a traffic enforcement deputy on October 31. The deputy's K-9 partner alerted on the vehicle, and a search was conducted.
Two people, according to NCSO officials, were in the car at the time. The meth found were packaged in one-pound packages, while the fentanyls were in pill form, which is reportedly what some drug cartels do to disguise it, in an effort to avoid law enforcement detection.
The case, which NCSO officials say involves other law enforcement agencies, is under investigation. NCSO officials did not release any information on the suspects, citing the ongoing investigation and involvement of other agencies.
