New information on Bartlett Lake hit-and-run suspects released

New information were released Monday about a hit-and-run on Bartlett Lake that left a 15-year-old badly injured, with detectives having developed a more detailed description of the boat involved, as well as the two people who were on board.

The victim, identified as Alec Medina, is still in the hospital recovering from his injuries. Several bones in his face were shattered and he has had to have several surgeries. Those responsible for the incident, which happened last month, are still on the loose, and family and friends, along with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, are hoping that changes soon.

The boat is being described as a fishing-style boat, with a light grey bottom half, and a purple or charcoal stripe down the middle. There was black lettering on one the side of the boat, and a black outboard motor. Witnesses also described a single windshield, situated only in front of the driver seat, and a white shade canopy over the front of the boat.

Meanwhile, Medina's girlfriend. Cessna McNeal, said she and the family are hoping the person responsible will be caught soon.

"It's honestly not something you want to go through because it's terrifying," said McNeil. "It's something you have to stay strong for him, and that's family."
