New information surrounding MLB player's arrest in Scottsdale

There is new information Monday surrounding the the arrest of a professional baseball player in Scottsdale.

Bruce Maxwell, a catcher for the Oakland Athletics, is accused of pointing a gun at a woman who was trying to deliver food to his apartment.

"Just stupid," said Jeff Accra, owner of Geno's. "I can't believe that someone in his position would do something so immature."

The woman who was trying to deliver food to Maxwell's apartment was reportedly delivering a cheesesteak from Geno's. The order, which totaled just over $14, was reportedly made at 5:04 from a B. Maxwell to Geno's in Tempe.

According to court paperwork, when the Postmates delivery woman knocked on the door at Maxwell's Scottsdale apartment, she told police Maxwell opened the door, and pointed a gun at her.

"We have a lot of drivers, and they stick together when something happens to one driver," said Accra. "Whether its this pizzeria or another pizzeria or a third party company, it affects all of us. It really does."

According to court documents, Scottsdale Police say Mxwell appeared to be intoxicated when they arrested him at his apartment. They say he made anti-police statements to them, and made conflicting statements about whether he had ever pulled his .9mm handgun on the driver.

The driver later identified Maxwell to police.

Maxwell drew attention when he was the only player who knelt during the national anthem.
