New way to get around downtown Scottsdale

There's a new way to get around Old Town Scottsdale. You've probably seen the golf carts that carry people to bars and restaurants around the area.

Now there's a company that is putting a twist on those golf carts, with a ride they say is safer and better for the environment.

Scottsdale is now the second market in the country to have something like this. These business partners decided to bring this type of ride to the area to give people a fun and unique riding experience, and to cut down on drinking and driving.

"It's exciting for people to haven't ridden in a Tuk Tuk because it's an experience that we believe is fun," said Cyle Teal.

Teal and his now business partner Thomas Boone were recently on a surf trip in Costa Rica when they discovered a need for the old town Scottsdale area.

"We were just riding a Tuk Tuk from surf school to have dinner, just through the jungle, just a different experience then anything else we've ever ridden in," said Thomas Boone.

At that moment, the two decided to bring that same experience back home.

There's now 2 and soon to be 4 E-Tuk's in the area, ready to take people to and from their destination and it's not limited to the bars.

"Recently through partnerships with restaurants or hotels or building complexes like this you start to get more day to day work with taking people from their condo to a restaurant or to work or to the gym," said Boone.

The three-wheeled Tuk's are eco-friendly and can travel on any road 35-miles-per-hour and under. It seats six people, has seat belts, and has heated seats. They also give businesses the opportunity to advertise.

Because the Tuk's are US DOT approved vehicles, they're fully insured and have to meet certain safety standards.

"As a vehicle for hire we are held to certain standards, which all of our drivers will have to meet, background checks, drug testing," said Teal.

So if you're out in Scottsdale and need a ride, Teal and Boone are hoping you'll think of three wheels, $2, and a fun ride.
