Man dies, no police hurt in officer-involved shooting in Mesa

- UPDATE: The male suspect who was pronounced dead on scene has been identified as 28-year-old Scott Farnsworth.


Officials with Mesa Police said no officers are reported injured, following an officer involved shooting.

The incident happened in the area of Crismon and Southern, near a QuikTrip in the area.  Police say a man was acting erratic in the area and walked past Skyline High School towards the QuikTrip gas station. 

Police say officers told the man to drop the weapon and saw the suspect raise a handgun toward the officers.  Mesa Police say three officers were on-scene at the time of the shooting, and the suspect was then struck by gunfire from Mesa Police. 

They say a witness in the area saw the events as they unfolded.

Mesa Fire crews arrived on-scene to provide any life-saving efforts, but the man was pronounced dead on-scene. Officers were wearing body cameras at the time. 

The man who was killed on-scene, a white man in his 20s, has not been identified.
