OfferUp sale of iPhone turns costly for Valley woman
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A Valley woman who was selling her iPhone on the website OfferUp got more than she bargained for.
The woman met the buyer at a public place, where things took a costly turn. Surveillance video shows the man running off, and the woman chasing after him. The incident happened Monday night, at a Dairy Queen in North Phoenix, and the suspect, as of Wednesday, remains on the loose.
The woman said she met the suspect through OfferUp, and agreed to sell her iPhone 6 for $300. After showing the suspect the iPhone, the suspect said "great, I want it."
Little did the woman know the suspect would grabbed the iPhone, and run for the door.
"He took off faster than anything," said Dina Firnstahl. "That kid is fast."
Firnstahl said she was stunned.
"How could I have let this happen?" said Firnstahl. "I don't know why. I felt annoyed that I let something happen. I was doing everything I was supposed to do."
Anyone with information on the suspect should call police.
