Officials: Talking Stick Resort will not reopen on August 19

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -- Officials with Talking Stick Resort say the resort will remain closed beyond Sunday.

The decision was announced in a statement released late Friday afternoon. The resort was closed, after it sustained damages from monsoon storms. Previously, officials had a target date to reopen on August 19, but officials now say daily assessments have revealed that more time is needed to complete repairs, and replace equipment.

Officials say those with reservations through August 20 will have the option to either reschedule, or be relocated to a nearby property that the resort has partnered with, and guests who still have slot tickets on August 10 and 11 can redeem them at Casino Arizona's main cage. Meanwhile, paid entrants for the August 11 and 12 qualifying tournaments in the Arizona State Poker Championship can bring their registration receipt and valid ID to Casino Arizona for a full refund.
