Organizers getting ready for 2017's Zombie Walk in Downtown Phoenix

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - The Zombie Walk in Downtown Phoenix is an event that seems to grow in size every year. While 2017's event is still three months off, organizers are already planning.

2017 will be the second year the Arizona Hemophilia Association has put on the event.

"We are raising money for people in our association that have bleeding disorders," said Tori Ericson, the association's Development and Marketing Director. "So, Von Willebrand Disease or hemophilia or other types of platelet disorders."

Ericson said the Zombie Walk is a good way to educate the community on different types of bleeding disorders.

"We definitely use this as the time to advocate for our disorder and tell people about what hemophilia is, as well as a good opportunity for people to come out and enjoy Halloween," said Ericson.

Since the event occurs near Halloween every year, people of all ages really get into the spooky spirit.

"We've seen baby zombies there, and we've seen all the way up to grandparent zombies," said Ericson. "People really get into costumes. People have done breaking bad themes or zombie brides or clown zombies. People really spice it up to whatever is trending or also whatever they're feeling that time."

About 15,000 to 20,000 zombies are expected to show up, and the Arizona Hemophilia Association are hoping to raise $100,000.
