Over a million Arizona residents expected to travel for the holidays

AAA Arizona says over 1.4 million Arizonans will be traveling for the holidays.

Nationwide the organization is estimating over 100 million travelers will travel by plane, bus, train, or car between now and the end of the year.

That number is only 1.4% more than travelers in 2014.

AAA says the overall increase is due to lower gas prices prompting more travelers to go by car.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recommends that travelers do not wrap their gifts if they are bringing them through security. For the seventh year, Phoenix Sky Harbor will be offering free gift-wrapping for travelers.

From 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. December 22-23, gift-wrapping will be available in Terminal 4 in three post-security locations: just past the A Checkpoint, B Checkpoint and C Checkpoint.

Travelers should arrive at the airport at least two hours before their flight departs.

And before you go to the airport, experts suggest travelers check in with their airline for any delays.
